Woman, 22, who died in Pierce County wreck has been identified; Lacey residents injured
A 22-year-old woman who was killed Friday night in a southeast Pierce County wreck has been identified, according to Washington State Patrol.
Jeannette F. Loomer of Maple Falls died at the scene of the crash, which happened east of McKenna and northwest of Eatonville.
A 21-year-old University Place man faces charges for vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and third-degree assault, according to State Patrol.
About 7:20 p.m. Friday, the University Place man was headed south on state Route 7 at state Route 702. Meanwhile, the Maple Falls woman was headed west through the same intersection and the Lacey residents were traveling east.
Troopers say the University Place man’s vehicle hit the Maple Falls woman’s vehicle, triggering a three-vehicle collision in the intersection.
The University Place man was injured and taken to Tacoma General Hospital.
The vehicle headed east contained three people: two Lacey residents in their 80s and a 57-year-old Eatonville man who was driving. All three were injured, but only one, an 85-year-old Lacey woman, was taken to a hospital in Puyallup. The other two were not transported, according to State Patrol.
Following the collision, the road was fully blocked for more than three hours.
