An event designed to raise awareness about a condition known as obstetric fistula is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Friday at Charles Wright Academy, 7723 Chambers Creek Road W., Tacoma.
The event, which takes place in the school’s Performing Arts Center, will include a documentary and a discussion by health care professionals.
Obstetric fistula is a childbirth injury that largely affects women in the world’s poorest countries, who give birth without access to emergency medical care. It occurs after prolonged labor.
Friday’s event is a community service project developed by Charles Wright junior Constance Hosannah.
