Canada lynx kitten to make debut Friday at Point Defiance Zoo

A Canada lynx kitten will make his debut Friday at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium as he joins a cast of a dozen animals in the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater.

Jasper, who is 9 weeks old and 4 pounds, was named after the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. The endangered cat will be part of the summer theater show and will make other appearances around the Tacoma zoo.

Wild Wonders is presented at noon and 3:30 p.m. daily. This summer it is “Indiana Bones and the Golden Treasure,” which features Herald the Dog and teaches the audience about geocatching.

Also making brief appearances in the show will be two burrowing owls, Pebbles and Cricket, and barn owl Apollo. The burrowing owls are 2-year-old females and weigh about 5 ounces. Apollo, who is 3 months old, weighs just under 1 pound.
