Seahawks fans can enjoy final day of the fair without missing Sunday’s game

Seahawks fans who want to enjoy the last day of the Washington State Fair in Puyallup don’t have to sacrifice game day festivities.

The fair is hosting the Ultimate Tailgate on Sunday to get the 12th Man pumped for a Super Bowl rematch against the Denver Broncos.

The game kicks off at 1:25 p.m. at CenturyLink Field, but the fair will have a pre-function event with specialty food and drinks, contests, free party favors and activities. It will be held in the Corona Cantina area, south of the Blue Gate.

The game will be broadcast on 25 large-screen TVs for “great viewing with other fans,” according to a fair news release.

The first 500 fans in the Tailgate Zone, which opens at 10 a.m., will receive blue and green beads or a “Washington takes bull from no Bronco” button.

Also scheduled: activities to keep kids busy before kickoff. The Jr. Training Camp Challenge will offer a “high-energy” dose of fun, the release states, including drills focusing on agility, speed and more.

The first 500 kids, ages 5-18 years old, to complete the Jr. Training Camp will receive a Washington State Fair “squishy” football and are entered to win a fair prize package. The big prize will include 12 rides, 20 food bucks, two Extreme Scream tickets and four tickets to the Spring Fair in April 2015.

Finally, 12th Man fairgoers can tout their fandom by competing in the Ultimate Fan Contest. The top 10 costumed fans who come to the Tailgate Zone before noon will win a VIP lanyard and five free rides, according to the release.

Sunday marks the last day of the Washington State Fair, which officials say attracts more than 1 million people during its 17-day run. The fairgrounds are open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
