Man dies in fall from Tacoma freeway onramp

A Puyallup man died early Saturday after he apparently fell from a downtown Tacoma onramp onto Interstate 705.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 35-year-old man crashed his Ford Ranger pickup into a concrete Jersey barrrier on the east side of the Ninth Street onramp to southbound I-705 at approximately 1:42 a.m.

The man got out of the truck, police said, crossed the onramp on foot and climbed over the barrier.

He fell 27 feet, landing on the pavement of northbound I-705, according to the WSP accident report.

The man’s name has not been released, as his family has not been notified.
