Canterwood residents told to keep boiling water following test results

Officials are suggesting Canterwood residents keep boiling their drinking water, following test results Wednesday.

E. coli was found in the water system Friday, and since then crews have been flushing the system with chlorine.

The Canterwood Golf and Country Club restaurant near Gig Harbor and 780 customers of the Canterwood Water Co. were affected.

The water is continuing to test positive for coliform bacteria, said Peninsula Light Co., which manages the system for Canterwood.

Coliform isn’t necessarily harmful, but can suggest other pathogens are present, according to the state Department of Health.

Crews will keep sanitizing the system until test results show the water is safe, according to the company.
