Person dead after being hit by pickup near Midland

A pedestrian died late Friday after being hit by a pickup near Midland, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred about 11:05 p.m. in the 10100 block of state Route 7.

Troopers said a person was standing in the northbound lanes of Route 7 near 100th Street South when he was hit by a black Ford F-150 headed north. The pickup, driven by a 42-year-old Lakewood man, came to rest in a nearby parking lot after the collision.

Troopers released no information about the person who was killed other than he was male.

The driver of the pickup was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and no charges were expected, according to a news release.
