10 miles of ‘unavoidably loud’ night road work begins Monday in Pierce County, WSDOT says

Beginning Monday night, work will get underway to replace 10 miles of road asphalt on state Route 7 in Tacoma and Spanaway, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The work is expected to be complete in August.

The two work areas:

The right lane of northbound SR 7, from state Route 507 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord to 169th Street in Spanaway.

The northbound and southbound right lanes of SR 7, from north of state Route 512 to South 38th Street in Tacoma.

The work will take place at night, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 7:30 p.m. Fridays to 9 a.m. Saturdays.

“This type of work is unavoidably loud,” WSDOT officials said in a news release. “Nearby businesses and residential areas may experience increased night construction noise. Crews will work quickly and efficiently to minimize disruptions.”
