A Yelm man was hospitalized Friday after he drove his motorcycle into the back of a state Department of Transportation truck parked on Interstate 5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
The crash occurred about 12:15 a.m. on southbound I-5 near Thorne Lane, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Troopers said a 31-year-old man was riding his motorcycle on the freeway when he hit the back of the truck, which was parked in one of the passing lanes. The Transportation Department has several construction projects underway on I-5 in Pierce County.
Southbound I-5 was closed for more than two hours while troopers investigated the wreck.
The motorcyclist was taken to Madigan Army Medical Center for treatment. The extent of his injuries were not made public.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was under investigation on suspicion of drunken driving.
