Be prepared for delays, detours and flaggers this week if your commute includes 112th Street Southwest in Lakewood, between Military Road Southwest and Farwest Drive Southwest.

That’s because beginning Monday, Aug. 22, the street will undergo repairs after a water main recently broke in the area. The work will continue through Friday, Aug. 26, according to the city of Lakewood.

The city did not specify road crew working hours.

Here’s how the detours will work:

Drivers headed east on 112th Street will detour around the closure by turning onto Military Road Southwest, then Holden Road Southwest, to reconnect to 112th Street.

Drivers headed west on 112th Street will be routed to Farwest Drive Southwest at the road closure and ultimately reconnect with 112th Street past the road’s intersection with Military Road SW.

One lane of travel will remain open to allow cars to turn to and from Farwest Drive Southwest, according to the city. Expect delays and a flagger in the area, city officials say.

One additional note: The 112th Street Southwest detour overlaps with a detour already in place for Washington Boulevard Southwest, which is closed between Edgewood Drive Southwest and Vernon Avenue Southwest.

The Washington Boulevard detour will remain in place until October while crews install a stormwater infiltration system under the street.
