A man who died during a vehicle collision in South Hill on Monday night, May 8, has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Kent resident Neang Thach was riding a motorcycle north on state Route 161 near 144th Street East around 8:09 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol. The medical examiner said Thach died from blunt head and torso trauma. The 39-year-old, who was wearing a helmet, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup that collided with Thach was transported to a medical facility. The 37-year-old man was wearing a seat belt.
