A teenage girl was critically injured Friday morning after she leaped from the second story of her burning North End Tacoma home.

The 15-year-old was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The hospital told KIRO that the girl was in the intensive care unit.

According to KIRO, the fire broke out in nearby garage and then spread to the house and its upper story in the 1100 block of North Alder Street.

The Tacoma Fire Department told KIRO the home is a total loss.

A person who identified themselves as a renter at the house refused comment to The News Tribune, citing possible legal action.
