Visiting Mt. Rainier soon? Be careful of construction near Eatonville along this route
If you’re planning a trip to Mt. Rainier soon, listen up.
Starting at 9 a.m. Aug. 1, travelers using Washington State Route 7/Mountain Highway East might see some temporary road changes in two locations due to road work. The bypass lanes will remain open through fall.
Traffic will shift onto separate temporary bypass lanes between 304th Street and Christiansen Muck Road, according to the Washington State Patrol and the state Department of Transportation.. One bypass is at 320th Street East at milepost 39. The other is near 332nd Street East at milepost 37.4.
Drivers will see one-way alternating traffic around each work zone, and the speed limit will be lowered to 25 mph for the safety of drivers and construction crews, per the patrol’s press release.
Crews will be removing structures that are barriers to fish passage under the highway, and will be building new structures that will improve access for fish at two unnamed tributaries to South Creek.
