Iconic historic downtown Tacoma building sells for millions. Here are the details
One of two classic Tacoma buildings put up for sale earlier this year has sold.
The One Pacific Building, 621 Pacific Ave., across from Old City Hall, was purchased by Neighborhood Development Corp., representing a Seattle investment couple, for $7 million in a sale recorded Aug. 4.
Brian Leibsohn and R.J. Vara of Marcus & Millichap’s Seattle office were the sellers’ brokers. The seller was an LLC representing Benjamin Podemski and his wife, Barbi Leifert Podemski.
The building was put on the market last fall and later pulled because of rising interest rates, Leibsohn told The News Tribune in March.
One Pacific re-entered the market this year at $7.65 million.
One Pacific, built in Italian Renaissance style, dates back to the late 1800s as the Northern Pacific Railway Headquarters Building for its Tacoma division.
The property was added to Tacoma’s Register of Historic Places in 1975, and its marketing brochure noted that the site qualified for a historical landmark tax credit.
A separate property in the Podemskis’ portfolio went up for sale in March: the Armour Building, 101 E. 26th St., across from Brown & Haley.
That property, at $3.96 million, is still available, a Marcus & Millichap representative told The News Tribune on Tuesday.
The Armour Building comes with an adjacent parking lot, while One Pacific has a shared parking arrangement with the city under the overpass, according to Leibsohn.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce first reported the sale of the One Pacific Building Tuesday morning.
