A rollover collision on southbound Interstate 5 near the Interstate 705 interchange has snarled holiday weekend traffic in Tacoma Friday afternoon.

Initially, three lanes were blocked but as of 3:45 p.m. that had been reduced to one.

Nevertheless, the wreck is slowing what was already heavy Labor Day weekend traffic.

“We’re still looking at significant backups though. Pack your patience and expect delays to continue until this collision is cleared,” the state Department of Transportation tweeted.

According to WSDOT’s real-time travel map, traffic was backed up north of the state Route 18 interchange in Federal Way as of 4 p.m.
