Homicide near Puyallup: 19-year-old found dead after reported argument and shooting

The story is all too familiar: a group of young people partying late, an argument, then a fatal shooting.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies are still piecing the incident together, but they know a 19-year-old man is dead, his body found early Sunday, Sept. 3, on a basketball court in the Lipoma Firs neighborhood on South Hill near Puyallup.

The dispatch call came at 3:21 a.m., the sheriff’s department reported. Multiple callers said they heard shots fired followed by the sounds of vehicles leaving the area of 105th Lane East and 188th Street Court East.

“When deputies arrived, they could not find anyone from the disturbance,” said sheriff’s spokesperson Darren Moss.

Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. Detectives believe the people at the party did not live in the neighborhood, Moss said. The incident is under investigation.
