Looking for stewardship opportunities? Green Tacoma Day is around the corner
For those looking for a way to spruce up the city and give back, Tacoma’s annual day of service is right around the corner.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, people are invited to volunteer at work sites across the city for Green Tacoma Day – an event made possible by the City of Tacoma, Pierce Conservation District, Metro Parks Tacoma, Communities for a Healthy Bay, Tacoma Tree Foundation and Forterra.
Participants can plant trees and remove weeds and litter at one of 12 locations, including Titlow Park, Swan Creek and Clover Creek Technical College. No experience is required, and tools, gloves and training will be provided.
On the three Saturdays leading up to Green Tacoma Day, people can check out related events.
On Sept. 23, arborists from the Tacoma Tree Foundation and Green Tacoma Partnership will lead Hops for Tree Tops – a tree walk and pub crawl through downtown Tacoma. On Sept. 30, Sarah C. Low of Strategic Nature LLC will lead a nature mindfulness walk at Titlow Park. On Oct. 7, the City of Tacoma will host a nursery tour.
