A stretch of one of Tacoma’s main roads will close Saturday for repairs to a bridge

The distinctive lighthouse at the Tacoma Rescue Mission on South Tacoma Way was taken down last week because of settling on the property. A bigger problem might be a leaky sewer line underground.

A stretch of a road on South Tacoma Way will close for overhead repairs on the Yakima Avenue Bridge most of Saturday.

The stretch between South M Street to the Tacoma Rescue Mission will close from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, the city of Tacoma said in a media release.

Detours are in place for drivers and pedestrians. The Yakima Avenue Bridge will remain open in both directions but will have a lane diversion in the northbound lane, the release said.
