Tacoma house fire closes down street, bulk of the fire knocked down by crews

A house fire in Tacoma that began Tuesday morning is being knocked down by firefighters.

The fire on South Sprague Avenue is being actively worked on by Tacoma Fire Department crews. The call came in around 8:31 a.m., and the bulk of the fire is gone, said Joe Meinecke, spokesperson for the Tacoma Fire Department.

There are no injuries to report, and Meinecke said it’s unclear where the fire originated from within the house. It is also undetermined if anyone was at home when the fire began.

Sprague Avenue was closed down for fire operations and Meinecke recommended drivers to reroute if they are headed to that area.

10 a.m. update: The Sprague fire is under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Tacoma Fire said on X.
