An adult teen, suspected of driving under the influence, is facing a vehicular assault charge after he crashed a pick-up truck Friday night and injured his 17-year-old passenger, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 17-year-old male teen is from Lakebay, Pierce County. Following the wreck, he was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.

About 10:25 p.m. Friday, the two teens were driving east on state Route 302 in Mason County, south of Belfair. Troopers say the truck drove off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Allyn, Mason County, was not injured.
