Man killed in Tesla rollover crash early Saturday in Sumner after exiting SR-410
A 28-year-old Everett man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Sumner, the Washington State Patrol said.
The victim, who had yet to be identified pending notification of next of kin, was exiting onto northbound State Route 167 from westbound State Route 410 in a 2018 Tesla when the crash occurred, according to the WSP.
The vehicle “failed to negotiate a curve to the right and continued straight” and then “left the roadway to the left, struck an embankment, and rolled,” the WSP said in an incident report. The crash was reported at roughly 3:30 a.m.
After the vehicle rolled, it came to rest on its wheels in a median.
East Pierce Fire & Rescue crews responded to the scene and “performed life saving interventions but were unfortunately unable to save the patient,” the fire department said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The scene was cleared more than two hours later.
Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be involved in the crash, which remained under investigation on Saturday, according to the WSP’s incident report.
