Tree blocks major road in Gig Harbor, knocking out power, fire officials say
A tree, presumably knocked down by breezy conditions, blocked a major road in Gig Harbor Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials there.
The tree was reported down at Whitmore Drive Northwest at 78th Avenue Northwest about 12:30 p.m., according to Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One. The area is now closed to traffic.
The downed tree apparently has affected power, cable TV and phone service.
“We are working with cable, phone, and power community partners to restore service and access,” Gig Harbor fire officials said via social media Sunday afternoon.
