A weakening offshore front is expected to spread light rain to coastal areas Saturday and then inland on Sunday before the upcoming early- and mid-week brings more of the same in the South Sound: mostly dry, a shower here and there and highs around 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

“The weather is kind of boring right now,” meteorologist Kayla Mazurkiewicz told The News Tribune on Saturday.

It’s expected to be mostly cloudy through the weekend and into Wednesday night, according to NWS’s detailed forecast for Tacoma and Olympia, before brightening up some by the end of week. Thursday and Friday call for partly sunny weather, with highs near 54 and 53, respectively.

“A series of impulses rotating around a broad trough along the West Coast will produce periods of showers Monday through Wednesday,” the NWS said. “Weak high pressure aloft will lead to a drying trend toward the end of the coming week.

“Temperatures through the (Friday) look to run near if not a little above seasonal norms.”
