You or someone you know need a summer job? Pierce County filling multiple parks positions

Looking to be a summer camp counselor this year? Pierce County Parks is hiring.

Pierce County Parks is hosting a summer hiring expo next month aimed to fill temporary jobs, including several camp counselor positions, a specialized recreation leader spot and parks room monitor. The event will be held April 3 from 3-7 p.m. at the Lakewood Community Center. Interested candidates must apply online by Wednesday, March 31, to be scheduled for an interview.

Job opportunities range in terms of schedule, location and pay. Pay ranges from $17.63-$19.88 an hour, according to the department’s online post.

Available positions include:

  • Temporary camp counselor in Parks Specialized Recreation Camps for people with disabilities ($17.63/hour)
  • Temporary specialized recreation leader for individuals with special needs ages 8 to adult ($19.88/hour)
  • Temporary camp counselor at the Deep Roots Day Camp ($17.63/hour)
  • Temporary parks room monitor at Frontier County Park, Cross Park and Meridian Habitat facilities ($17.88/hour)

Some positions could be up to 40 hours per week for up to six months of employment, while others might provide part-time coverage year-round for less than 70 hours a month, according to Pierce County Parks.
