Hoping for a dry Daffodil Festival parade? Hey, there’s always next year.
Tacoma-area residents can expect to see some rain on Saturday’s parade.
Showers are heading our way on Saturday as a weak front plows into western Washington, according to the National Weather Service’s Seattle office. That’s good news for the area’s daffodils, of course, but perhaps not as great for attendees of Saturday’s annual Daffodil Festival parade.
The rain will continue throughout Sunday, too, albeit with somewhat less coverage, NWS Seattle meteorologist Anna Lindeman told The News Tribune.
“The showers today, they’ll be a little bit heavier, and then tomorrow might be a little bit more on and off,” Lindeman said. “But otherwise, we’ll see highs today in Tacoma right around 50 degrees and then a few degrees warmer tomorrow — probably around 55.”
This isn’t the first time that the rain has come out to play during the Daffodil Festival, which kicked off this Saturday in Tacoma around 10:15 a.m. From there the parade will snake its way over to Puyallup at 12:45 p.m., Sumner at 2:30 p.m. and Orting at 5 p.m.
Some South Sound residents may be sick of the wet weather, but it isn’t done with us just yet.
Precipitation will likely continue in the region heading into the work week. Monday may get another round of showers with temperatures in the mid-50s, plus some breezy winds, Lindeman said. Temps will warm up to roughly 60 degrees on yet another rainy Tuesday.
Then comes a brief rain break, Lindeman said: “The best chance for drier weather looks to be maybe on Wednesday for the Tacoma area.”
The middle of the week will start to get warmer with temperatures in the lower-to-mid-60s. Tacoma might even see a little sun peeking out from behind the clouds.
“Honestly, it’s pretty quiet,” Lindeman said of the upcoming Grit City weather. “I mean, nothing super significant going on over the next week or so.”
