Man walking with his dog gets hit by car and dies in Pierce County, deputies say

A man was killed on a walk with his dog after being hit by a car in Pierce County.

The 25-year-old man was crossing the road with his dog near the 11400 block of Canyon Road at around 12:18 a.m. A car driving south hit the man, who died at the scene, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

Traffic units were dispatched and learned the driver was coming home from work. He is not suspected of being impaired by drugs or alcohol, deputies said. The dog survived and was taken to Sumner Veterinarian Hospital.
