A 25-year-old man died Saturday evening after crashing his motorcycle on northbound Interstate 5 in the Lakewood area, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Auburn man, later identified by the State Patrol as Luis A. Reyes Garcia, died at the scene of the wreck. Two other people, a driver and passenger involved in the crash, were treated at the scene for their injuries, troopers say.

About 7:20 p.m., the motorcyclist was headed north on I-5 in the Lakewood/South Tacoma area. Troopers say he was speeding too fast for the conditions.

The man then attempted a lane change and crashed into a second vehicle, according to State Patrol. The motorcycle then entered another lane and hit a third vehicle, troopers say.

The motorcycle and the second vehicle came to a stop on the left shoulder. The third vehicle came to a stop on the right shoulder about a quarter mile north of the crash scene.

Traffic in the area was slowed for more than three hours, according to State Patrol.
