A familiar regional candy vendor plans to return to the Tacoma Mall in time for the holiday retail season.

Permitting was submitted in late July for a new Candy Tyme shop, with remodeling anticipated to begin next month.

A media representative for the chain told The News Tribune on Thursday in response to questions that Candy Tyme plans to be open by Black Friday (Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving).

The store will be in the main corridor hall between center court and the food court.

Candy Tyme’s previous mall store closed in January 2022 after nearly 10 years of operation. Its other mall sites are at Westfield Southcenter in Tukwila and Westlake Center in Seattle.

The retailer also has mall shops in Vancouver, Washington, and in Eugene and Happy Valley, Oregon.

The representative noted that the new store was a “better location” with an increase in square footage for a better display of products, and will be a permanent location.

According to its website, Candy Tyme’s selection includes “chocolates, Jelly Belly’s, gummies, licorice and sugar-free offerings. The candy is self-serve and all sold at one price.” A “sample of the day” also is offered to customers.
