A person was rescued from a second story balcony Friday afternoon after a fire broke out at a Puyallup apartment building, Central Pierce Fire & Rescue said.

Multiple crews were batting the fire in the 3200 block of East Main Avenue in Puyallup. Only one 14-unit building is involved. All residents have been safely evacuated, according to Puyallup Police spokesperson Capt. Kevin Gill.

East Main Avenue is closed between state Route 410 and Shaw Road, Gill said.
