A woman died in a train accident at South 48th Street and South Adams Street in Tacoma earlier today, according to Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Shelbie Boyd.

S Line commuter trains were delayed between the Tacoma Dome and Lakewood as a result, according to a Sound Transit news release.

“Passengers are encouraged to seek alternative service options and plan ahead for additional travel time,” the release said.

Sound Transit bus route 594 and Pierce Transit bus route 3 were to service the Tacoma Dome, South Tacoma and Lakewood train stations, according to the release.

The call regarding the fatal accident came in at 4:28 p.m. and Tacoma Police Department officers were on-scene, according to Boyd.

Boyd wasn’t able to share further information about the circumstances of the fatality but said police were investigating and “there doesn’t appear to be any foul play.”
