Two people from Pierce County were killed, and an Enumclaw woman is now facing a vehicular homicide charge after a three-vehicle wreck east of Enumclaw Sunday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 11:30 a.m. Sunday, the 63-year-old Enumclaw woman was headed west on state Route 410. Troopers say she tried to pass multiple vehicles in the eastbound lanes and triggered the three-car crash.

A 72-year-old Lakebay man and his 69-year-old female passenger from Puyallup died at the scene, according to State Patrol.

And three people were hurt and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle: the Enumclaw woman and two women in their 30s from Seattle.

Puget Sound Fire said the road would be closed for an extended period of time so the Washington State Patrol could investigate.

“Both directions of SR 410 are blocked east of Enumclaw after a collision,” state Department of Transportation officials said about 4:15 p.m. via social media.

“Westbound is closed at Twin Creek Bridge; eastbound is closed at Mud Mountain Dam Road.”
