Semi crash snarls northbound I-5 traffic in Tacoma Friday night, State Patrol reports
A multi-vehicle collision blocked all but two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma Friday night, the Washington State Patrol reported at about 10 p.m.
The crash ended with a semi tractor-trailer turned sideways on the freeway underneath the Yakima Avenue overpass, according to a social media post from Trooper John Dattilo, WSP spokesperson.
“No major injuries, expect traffic delays in the area,” Dattilo wrote, adding that drivers should seek alternate routes.
In a subsequent statement posted at 10:36 p.m., Dattilo said the blocked freeway lanes had been cleared, that investigators evaluated all drivers involved had been evaluated, and that “impairment” was not suspected as a factor.
