Portable classroom burns in Tacoma. Cause is under investigation, firefighters say

A portable classroom caught fire in Tacoma early Wednesday morning.

Fire crews were dispatched at around 4:13 a.m. to the 1800 block of East 72nd Street. The fire was contained to one building and knocked down, according to Tacoma Fire on X.

The portable classroom was on the property of the Champions Centre church. The unit was being leased out to a third party for storage, TFD spokeswoman Chelsea Shepherd told The News Tribune on Wednesday.

The fire department was working on hot spots. There are no reported injuries, the post said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
