Brace for freezing weather: Rain, cold and snow showers on the horizon for Tacoma
Cold temperatures in Tacoma are expected to continue throughout the rest of the week, but folks should expect wetter weather and even snow showers.
According to the National Weather Service Seattle on X, western Washington can expect colder temperatures along with an increase in precipitation beginning the night of Thursday, Jan. 30.
Between Thursday and Sunday, Feb. 2, Tacoma is expected to have temperatures that range from the low to high 40s, with low temperatures in the 30s. The chance of precipitation from Thursday night through Saturday, Feb. 1 is 100% percent.
NWS Seattle predicts that Tacoma will also have snow and snow showers beginning Saturday, Feb. 1 through Wednesday, Feb. 5. Snow showers occur when snow falls at different intensities for brief periods and snow accumulation is possible, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
There is a 26% chance that Tacoma will get 1 inch of snow or more by Sunday morning, according to the most recent NWS Seattle briefing.
NWS Seattle advises people to continue monitor the forecast as the week goes on to see if there are any changes.
“Exact timing and precipitation type are still uncertain at this time, but will likely become more refined as we get closer to the event,” according to the NWS Seattle on X.
