One person extricated, hospitalized following crash with semi-truck in Pierce County

A crash between a semi-truck and car left one person with life-threatening injuries early Wednesday morning in Sumner.

Fire crews were dispatched after 5:38 a.m. to the crash on westbound state Route 410 between Main Street and state Route 167. Firefighters began efforts to extricate a person in the car, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue on X.

The post said once the person was extricated, they were taken to a local hospital.

Westbound SR 410 was closed and has since reopened.

“Our hearts are with the patient and their family,” the post said.
