‘Arson, that’s arson.’ Fire directly outside Pierce County home displaces 3 people

A fire directly outside of a Parkland home displaced three people and two dogs Friday morning.

Fire crews were dispatched at about 9:14 a.m. to a fire in the 200 block of 128th Street South. The fire was isolated to a carport, SUV and boat, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue on X.

Deputies were dispatched for suspected arson after neighbors noticed suspicious behavior prior to the fire starting, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune on Friday. Deputies are investigating.

“Arson, that’s arson. I know it,” one neighbor told a deputy, according to body-camera footage posted by the PCSO.

The fire was quickly put out with only some of the flames spreading to the home, the post said. Red Cross was contacted to assist those displaced. There were no reported injuries.
