Reported 3.3-magnitude earthquake rattles area north of Tacoma near Vashon Island

A 3.3-magnitude earthquake reportedly struck near Vashon Island on Monday night.

The earthquake hit at about 11:10 p.m., according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

It was originally reported as a 3.2-magnitude earthquake but was updated to 3.3.

“This report supersedes any earlier report of this event,” PNSN reports. “This event has been reviewed by a seismologist.”

The earthquake struck 10.23 miles north of Tacoma and about 14 miles from Bremerton, PNSN reports. The quake had a depth of 24.75 kilometers.
