A 52-year-old man was killed after he crashed his vehicle on the side of a Pierce County roadway near Spanaway on Thursday night.

Deputies were dispatched at 9:26 p.m. to the 100 block of Pirnie Road for the single-car wreck. The man was found dead when deputies arrived, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman deputy Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune.

Witnesses told deputies the man was driving recklessly leading up the crash, and Cappetto said alcohol might have been a factor. An investigation is ongoing.
