A fire blazing inside a commercial building brought fire crews to downtown Puyallup on Monday afternoon, according to an X post from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.
“Crews arrived on scene to find the building with heavy smoke and flames,” Central Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesperson Brianna Stenstrom said, adding that crews upgraded the alarm and requested additional resources. The scene was still active as of 4:30 p.m., according to Stenstrom.
The Puyallup Police Department arrived first at 3:45 p.m., and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue’s first engine arrived at 3:47 p.m., she said. The X post said East Pierce Fire & Rescue assisted.
All occupants are believed to have evacuated, and there are no known injuries at this time, she told The News Tribune in a phone call at about 4:30 p.m.
The building in the 2100 block of Inter Avenue is a 7,300 square feet warehouse that stores collectible automobiles, according to Stenstrom.
She wrote in a text message that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and that Central Pierce deputy fire marshals would conduct the investigation for the cause.
