Get an inside look at this Pierce County airport’s operations at upcoming event
Tacoma Narrows Airport Day allows people to get an inside look at airport activities and operations.
The event, which takes place Aug. 16 at 1202 26th Avenue Northwest near Gig Harbor, allows visitors to watch airport activities, visit airport businesses and learn about aviation careers and much more, according to a news release. There will be STEM activities for kids.
There also will be aviation displays and booths, food trucks and an opportunity to see aircraft flybys, depending on weather and schedules.
Several organizations are participating in the event, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, Peninsula School District, Washington State Patrol and the Federal Aviation Administration, the release said.
Admission is free. The event will start with a welcome at 9:30 a.m. at the Rotary Aviation Zone. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents nearby might see more air traffic that day and hear additional air-traffic noise, the release said. Nearby roads might be busier.
