Former Seahawks player to join Tacoma police for turkey giveaway events
Retired Seattle Seahawks player Marcus Trufant is joining the Tacoma Police Department and Friends for two of three annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway events.
The department has partnered with local businesses to give away free turkeys and sides for the three drive-thru events. Each vehicle gets one turkey and sides while supplies last, according to TPD community engagement senior manager Bervin Smith via email.
Trufant, a Tacoma native, is volunteering at the distribution events on Nov. 18 at the Tacoma Dome and Nov. 22 at the Eastside Community Center. The email said he will be handing out turkeys and food and “is excited to give back to the community he calls home.”
A full breakdown of when and where the turkey giveaways will happen:
- Nov. 18 at the Tacoma Dome, 2727 E. D St., 11 a.m. until supplies are gone.
- Nov 22 at the Eastside Community Center, 1721 E. 56th St., 10 a.m. until supplies are gone.
