One person is dead after a fire destroyed a barn in the Buckley area early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. to a structure fire where a barn-like outbuilding was engulfed in flames, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue on X.

KOMO News reports the blaze happened along 112th Street East, near Buckley’s pump house.

One person was found dead inside the structure, the X post said. There are no other reported injuries.

“The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Medical Examiner’s Office, and forensic investigators responded to the scene. The cause is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office,” according to the post.

Crews were clearing the scene. The post said there was no more information at this time.
