Here’s a roundup of Thanksgiving closures in and around Tacoma

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, buildings and services from the city of Tacoma, Pierce County and other municipalities will see closures or reduced hours.

Here’s a roundup of some of those closures:

Administrative offices

The city of Tacoma and Pierce County’s administrative offices will be closed on Nov. 27 and 28, according to their respective websites.

Libraries

All libraries under the Tacoma Library system will close at 6 p.m. on Nov. 26 and will be closed all day on Nov. 27. All libraries under the Pierce County library system will close on Nov. 27 and 28. Library locations under both systems will resume service starting Saturday, Nov. 29.

Parking enforcement

Tacoma city staff will not enforce parking on Nov. 27 and 28, according to a release from the city.

Trash pickup

Garbage, recycling and food-waste pickup for Tacoma residents will not take place on Thursday, Nov. 27. Curbside pickup scheduled for the rest of the week will be delayed by one day, according to the city. Customers can learn more about waste pickup at their home address on the city’s website.

Customers with Murrey’s Disposal, which serves residents of Pierce County, will not see waste pickup on Nov. 27. Pickup will similarly be scheduled one day late, according to the company’s website.

Transit

Pierce Transit’s Sunday schedule will be in place for Nov. 27, and regular weekday service will resume on Friday, Nov. 28. Riders on buses and shuttles operated by Pierce Transit can ride for free on Nov. 28, according to a release from the agency. Pierce Transit is encouraging riders to take public transit on Black Friday to support local businesses in the area.

Parks

Several of Parks Tacoma’s facilities, including the Eastside Community Center, Fort Nisqually and the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium will be closed on Nov. 27. Visit Parks Tacoma’s website for a comprehensive list of closures and reduced hours at each of their facilities this Thanksgiving.
