4 people hurt, including child, in Sunday morning Puyallup wreck, police say
Four people were hurt, including serious injuries to a child, after a Sunday morning wreck in Puyallup, police announced.
A 21-year-old Graham man who is alleged to have caused the wreck was injured, too, and taken to an area hospital. He is under investigation for vehicular assault, according to Puyallup police.
About 10 a.m., a police officer attempted to contact the man in the 100 block of 31st Avenue Southeast in a vehicle that police described as “suspicious.”
The man then “fled recklessly” from the scene, but the officer did not pursue him, according to a news release.
However, minutes later police were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 31st Avenue Southwest and the state Route 512 eastbound on-ramp.
Police say the Graham man ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle turning left onto the on-ramp, according to the release.
A family of four occupied the vehicle that was hit, including a four-year-old child who was said to be in critical condition. All were taken to area hospitals, according to police.
The Metro Cities Major Collision Response Team is investigating the wreck, according to police.
