Man arrested for setting Tacoma apartment on fire overnight Sunday, police say
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson after he allegedly set an apartment on fire overnight Sunday, according to Tacoma police and fire officials.
About 1:10 a.m., fire and police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of South 11th Street.
Fire crews found a large garbage pile burning outside the front door of an apartment, according to a Tacoma Fire Department social media post.
“Fire burned the exterior of the building, and smoke filled the unit,” the social media post reads. “Crews pulled one resident out of the building and treated them at the scene.”
Tacoma police also arrested the arson suspect at the scene, Sgt. John Correa said Sunday.
