Trains collide in Tacoma, leak fuel
Two trains collided Friday in Tacoma, and their engines, fueled by a total of about 1,500 gallons of diesel, were punctured.
Tacoma firefighters and a HAZMAT team were called to the 1300 block of East 21st Street about 11 a.m. to contain the diesel.
The trains were heading north on separate tracks and apparently collided while trying to merge onto the same track.
One person suffered minor injuries, fire spokesman Joe Meineke said.
