One critically injured in Federal Way crash
A 54-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash that closed both directions of Pacific Highway South in Federal Way for nearly seven hours.
The collision happened about 5:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes at South 372nd Street.
The man was traveling south when his car hit a patch of ice, crossed the centerline, clipped a northbound semitruck and then crashed into a pickup truck, police said.
The man’s car flipped on its side. He had to be removed by firefighters before he was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.
The pickup driver, a woman in her 30s, was hurt and taken to Valley Medical Center in Renton.
Debris was scattered across all lanes of Pacific Highway South and officers blocked off that section of the road until 12:15 p.m. so they could investigate the crash.
