‘Reckless driver’ found dead in creek near Parkland

A man who drove at least four blocks down a creek in Parkland was found dead Wednesday after presumably getting his SUV stuck, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The man has not been identified.

Residents on Tule Lake Road South called 911 about 8:15 a.m. to report an SUV driving through a creek running behind their homes.

Deputies found the SUV and the man’s body in the 600 block of Tule Lake Road South under a bridge over Clover Creek.

“We had a call of a reckless driver in a creek,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. “We’re guessing he got stuck and probably tried to get out.”

The man appears to have driven through a yard and into the creek in the 200 block of 131st Street South before making it another four blocks.
