Smoking brakes and an overturned car on an onramp keep Gig Harbor firefighters on the road

March 21: Motor Vehicle Collision — A collision occurred on State Route 302 near Purdy Drive just after 4 p.m. The occupants drove the vehicles to the nearby gas station parking lot. Medics made contact and assessed the involved drivers. One patient was transported to a nearby hospital.

March 23: Vehicle Fire — Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One responded to a report of a vehicle fire on State Route 16 at the truck scales around 8 p.m. Crews arrived to find Washington State Patrol on the scene and a vehicle with no apparent signs of fire. The driver stated that one of the wheels appeared to have overheated and produced a red glow and some smoke. No further hazards were noted and a tow truck was called.

March 24: Overturned vehicle — Around 11:30 a.m. a vehicle overturned on the Wollochet onramp to State Route 16. Firefighters arrived to find one vehicle on its side and the driver out. The driver was evaluated by medics and transported to a nearby hospital. Firefighters assisted in getting the vehicle on its wheels to prepare for towing. Washington State Patrol handled the investigation.
