Family events offered by KeyPen Parks

There are several family events and activities hosted by KeyPen Parks throughout the month of August.

A free family concert, Bee Boppin’ Bugs with Nancy Stewart, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 8) in Volunteer Park. Attendees are invited to bring picnic lunches and lawn chairs to enjoy a day in the park.

Cinema Under the Stars, a Friday night event, will have free activities and family movies. Activities begin at 7:30 p.m. and the movies start at around 8:30 p.m. The movies scheduled to be shown are:

▪ Friday: “Finding Nemo”

▪ Aug. 14: “Mary Poppins” (1964)

▪ Aug. 21: “Monsters University”

▪ Aug. 28: “Maleficent”

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 19 to 21 the ‘Sick’ Skateboarding Skills Camp will be held for children age 6 to 13. Skills and safety will be taught and campers will earn the confidence to be successful in skateboarding. Loaner skateboards and helmets will be available for free during the camp for those campers who do not have their own equipment. Camp cost is $70. Register at www.keypenparks.com/camps.
